The Best Japanese Restaurants in Mykonos
From robatayaki by the sea to sushi in Mykonos Town and polished sunset dining, these are the Japanese restaurants in Mykonos worth knowing in 2026.
Japanese dining in Mykonos has become much more than sushi.
The strongest restaurants now combine sashimi, robata, wagyu, tempura, cocktails, beachfront settings and late-night atmosphere, each with a very different personality.
Some are destination venues designed around the entire day. Others are better for a focused dinner in town.
The right choice depends less on “which one is best?” and more on what kind of experience you want.

ROKA Mykonos: Best for the Full Day-to-Night Experience
Set directly on Paraga Beach, ROKA was one of the strongest Japanese openings of the 2026 season.
The venue combines a restaurant, beach, infinity pool and bar, with the experience moving from relaxed daytime lounging into sunset drinks and dinner. At the centre is ROKA’s signature robatayaki style, supported by sushi, sashimi, tempura and Japanese sharing plates.
During the 2026 season, restaurant service ran daily from 12:00 to 23:00, with pool and beach experiences during the daytime and DJs from early afternoon. ROKA is now closed for the 2026 season.
BEST FOR
Couples · Groups · Pool days · Beach days · Sunset dinner

Zuma Mykonos: Best for Sunset + Contemporary Japanese
Zuma Mykonos remains one of the island’s most polished Japanese lifestyle destinations.
Its Mykonos concept goes beyond the restaurant, combining an infinity pool, lounge, bar, sushi counter, robata kitchen and panoramic sunset views. The current menu includes sushi and sashimi, tempura, wagyu, black cod, lobster, Japanese rice pots and signature robata dishes.
The 2026 season has now ended, with Zuma confirming that the Mykonos location will return in summer 2027.
BEST FOR
Sunset · Cocktails · Groups · Contemporary Japanese · Late evenings
ADVANZA TAKE
Choose Zuma when the atmosphere matters just as much as the food.
Matsuhisa Mykonos: Best for an Iconic Japanese Dinner
Inside the Belvedere Hotel, Matsuhisa is one of the island’s longest-established international Japanese names.
The restaurant brings Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature Japanese-Peruvian style to Mykonos, with classics such as yellowtail jalapeño, black cod, sashimi and rock shrimp, alongside Aegean seafood and seasonal dishes. The Belvedere still lists Matsuhisa as one of its flagship dining experiences.
Compared with ROKA or Zuma, Matsuhisa feels more like a dedicated dinner destination than a full lifestyle venue.
BEST FOR
Date nights · Special occasions · Sushi lovers · Classic Nobu-style dining
ADVANZA TAKE
The strongest choice when you want the focus to remain on dinner rather than beach-club energy.
Sishu Sushi Bar: Best for Sushi Purists
Located at the Myconian Imperial in Elia Beach, Sishu Sushi Bar is one of the more focused Japanese restaurants on the island.
Executive chef Meiwang Ke Steven, who trained in Japan, combines classic Japanese technique with Mykonian ingredients and fresh local fish. The menu includes tuna and salmon tartares, hamachi carpaccio, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki dishes, rib-eye and Japanese-inspired desserts.
Current operating information lists dinner service from around 20:00 until midnight, with reservations recommended.
BEST FOR
Sushi · Sashimi · Quiet dinners · Food-focused travellers
ADVANZA TAKE
A better choice if you care more about the sushi than about being seen at the table.
Tokyo Joe Mykonos: Best for Casual Japanese
For something less formal, Tokyo Joe Mykonos remains one of the island’s strongest casual Japanese options.
Its menu focuses on sushi, nigiri, sashimi, tartare and contemporary Japanese dishes with a more relaxed approach. Tokyo Joe currently lists opening hours from 14:00 to 00:30, including delivery service.
It is noticeably more accessible than the big-name luxury venues and works well when you want good sushi without turning dinner into a major event.
BEST FOR
Casual dinners · Sushi cravings · Takeaway · Groups · Lower-key evenings
ADVANZA TAKE
The easy choice when you want Japanese food without the Mykonos performance around it.
NAMMOS Mykonos: Best for Sushi with Psarou Energy
NAMMOS is not exclusively a Japanese restaurant, but sushi is an important part of its dining identity.
The Psarou restaurant combines Mediterranean cuisine, fresh fish, premium beef and an extensive sushi selection, including maki, sashimi and Japanese ingredients served within one of Mykonos’ most famous beach settings.
The restaurant currently lists operating hours from 13:00 to 02:00, with the beach open from 11:00 to 19:00.
BEST FOR
Psarou · Luxury beach days · Groups · Sushi + Mediterranean dining
ADVANZA TAKE
Choose Nammos when you want sushi as part of the broader Psarou experience rather than a purely Japanese dinner.
Buddha-Bar Beach Mykonos: Best for Asian Fusion by the Water
At Santa Marina in Ornos Bay, Buddha-Bar Beach offers a broader Asian-fusion experience rather than strictly Japanese dining.
The menu includes sushi and Buddha-Bar classics alongside seafood, Mediterranean and Greek influences, all in a beachfront setting that becomes more energetic towards sunset. The venue currently lists opening hours from 13:00 to 01:00.
BEST FOR
Sunset · Ornos · Cocktails · Asian fusion · Resort evenings
ADVANZA TAKE
Better for travellers who want Japanese-inspired dishes, cocktails and music rather than a traditional sushi-focused experience.

If You Only Have One Night
If I were choosing purely by type of trip:
For a couple: Matsuhisa or ROKA
For a group of friends: Zuma or ROKA
For serious sushi: Sishu
For something easy and casual: Tokyo Joe
For a full luxury beach day: NAMMOS
For sunset and cocktails: Zuma
For Ornos: Buddha-Bar Beach
The Advanza Tip
Do not choose your Japanese restaurant based only on the menu.
In Mykonos, location completely changes the experience.
ROKA in Paraga feels different from Matsuhisa in Chora. Zuma is built around sunset. Sishu is much more food-focused. Nammos is part of a full Psarou beach day.
Decide first whether you want dinner, sunset, beach, nightlife or pure sushi — then choose the restaurant.
