South coastEasy accessBus & boatsPlatis Gialos curves around a sheltered bay on the south coast, which means calmer water and better protection from the wind than some north-facing beaches. A beachfront promenade runs the length of the sand with hotels, apartments and tavernas in one line and the sea right in front.
There’s a regular bus to Mykonos Town from the back of the beach and water-taxis to places like Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise and Elia.

Νότια πλευράΕύκολη πρόσβασηΛεωφορείο & καραβάκιαΟ Πλατύς Γιαλός αγκαλιάζει έναν προστατευμένο κόλπο στη νότια πλευρά, άρα συνήθως πιο ήρεμη θάλασσα και λιγότερος αέρας από παραλίες που «βλέπουν» βόρεια. Μπροστά στην αμμουδιά υπάρχει πεζόδρομος με ξενοδοχεία, ενοικιαζόμενα και ταβέρνες στη σειρά και θάλασσα κυριολεκτικά στα πόδια σου.
Από πίσω υπάρχει τακτικό λεωφορείο προς Χώρα, ενώ από την παραλία φεύγουν βαρκάκια για Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Ελιά κ.ά.

Water entry is generally easy and shallow enough at the edge for kids, with clearer, deeper water as you swim further out.
- Chairs & umbrellas: book through your hotel or directly with the seafront spots.
- Showers & facilities: available at several venues along the beach.
- Wind: usually more protected than the north, but still check the forecast on very gusty days.

Μαλακή άμμοςΟργανωμένες ξαπλώστρεςΦιλική για οικογένειεςΗ άμμος είναι απαλή και χρυσαφένια, με κυρίως οργανωμένα κομμάτια ξαπλωστρών & ομπρελών που ανήκουν στα παραλιακά ξενοδοχεία και εστιατόρια. Η είσοδος στη θάλασσα είναι σχετικά εύκολη και ρηχή στην αρχή, κατάλληλη και για παιδιά, ενώ πιο μέσα βαθαίνει με καθαρό, γαλάζιο νερό.
- Ξαπλώστρες & ομπρέλες: κλείνεις μέσω ξενοδοχείου ή απευθείας με τα μαγαζιά μπροστά.
- Ντους & υποδομές: θα βρεις σε αρκετά σημεία κατά μήκος της παραλίας.
- Άνεμος: συνήθως πιο προστατευμένος από βόρειες παραλίες, αλλά τσέκαρε πρόγνωση σε πολύ δυνατά μελτέμια.

Many guests pair a stay in Platis Gialos with dinners at places like Avli tou Thodori on the beach and then head to Mykonos Town for a late drink.

- In high season, sunbeds can book out — reserve via your hotel or go early.
- Nightlife here is gentle; for clubs, you’ll still go to Town, Paradise, Paraga etc.
- Because everything is close together, it can feel busy in peak months — but that’s also the charm if you like “people-watching”.
